Membership Policies & Privileges
What is the Harbour Town Yacht Club?
The Harbour Town Yacht Club is a private, "members only" club
located in the heart of Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island. The Club
features superior accommodations, incomparable service and an
unparalleled package of recreational amenities for the exclusive use
of its members and their guests.
Are there
different classifications of Membership?
There are two classifications of Membership in the Harbour Town
Yacht Club. Each classification entitles the Member to specific
rights and privileges.
Equity
Membership
An Equity Member is a person, persons, corporation, partnership or
other legal entity who has purchased fee simple ownership of an
Òundivided interestÓ in the real estate that comprises Harbour Town
Yacht Club. Equity Members are guaranteed 28 days occupancy per year
at no charge in one of the Club's luxury suites and are entitled to
all recreational privileges.
Because this is a deeded form of real estate ownership an Equity
Membership can be transferred, willed, or sold at the member's
discretion.
Yacht
Membership
A Yacht Member is a person, persons, corporation, partnership or
other legal entity who has purchased fee simple ownership of a
specific boat slip in the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. Yacht Membership
includes a terminable, nonexclusive license to use the Harbour Town
Yacht Club facilities and entitles the member to certain of the
Club's recreational privileges. If slip ownership is transferred or
sold by the Member, Yacht Membership must convey as well.
Is there a
limit to the number of Members in each classification?
Each classification has a maximum number of Members as follows:

What is an
"undivided interest" in real estate?
An undivided interest in real estate is a deeded right to possession
of the entire real estate along with other interest holders. The
real estate that comprises the Harbour Town Yacht Club consists of
individual luxury suites and certain other areas including club
room, meeting rooms, recreational and other common facilities for
the private benefit of Club Members and their guests. An Equity
Member does not own a specific suite; instead he owns a portion of
everything.
